The site is updated whenever I remember to add something to it. It relies on free software for everything: the server runs entirely on free software and I use free software for writing the pages, usually Kate or GNU Emacs on a Debian GNU/Linux machine. Most pages use server-side-includes but some use PHP.
The server shown is the old computer, which has since been replaced. The current server is also my desktop machine, a 3 GHz Intel Pentium 4, with 1 GiB of RAM. The Internet connection is a Be-There Unlimited ADSL connection.
(This is now out of date, I have moved the server to my flat in London.) The datacentre itself is 5 miles north of Leicester, England, in a village well-known for high-speed internet connectivity and co-location facilities. We are a mere 160 km from London, a global internet hub, adding 0·5 µs journey time to your request. The centre is equipped with pine-effect quad-width high-capacity data racks, with networking equipment positioned within easy reach of the operator for fast access. Climate control is provided by a circulating-water system with a fully human-induced ventilation system. Electricity is supplied through a sub-terra standard feed, and as you can see we are within 150 m of a high-voltage National Grid transmission line.
